Broad Executive Forum - 2008 Taking Charge

Corporate Structure Transformation When Driven by External Forces Kenneth F. Sommer Key Note Speaker (BA Accounting ’80) Ken Sommer served in various executive positions at Visa International from 2000 through 2007, serving most recently as president and CEO. He served as chief administrative officer prior to being named CEO in 2006, and was executive vice-president and CFO from 2000-2005. While corporate structure generally follows business strategy, external forces can drive the need for change. Responding to such forces in the market place and business environment, Visa, the world’s largest credit card network, completed a restructuring last October that combined the U.S., Canadian and International operations to emerge as Visa Inc. Robert B. Duncan, the Eli and Edythe L. Broad Dean, and Michael Mazzeo, associate dean for Undergraduate Programs and Finance at the Broad School, will be joined by the school’s director of Corporate Relations, Helen Dashney, to present afternoon workshops. Workshops topics include: Corporate control, governance, M&As, and how academic and enrichment programming at the Broad School produces leaders in strategic change and innovation.
Workshops run from 4 pm. to 4:45 pm.; and 5 pm to 5:45pm. A networking reception follows at 6:15 pm. Dinner at 7 pm; keynote follows.
