7.31.09 MSU Summer Yacht Cruise (189)

Free Spirit Yacht Cruises set sail from Burnham Harbor with a boat load of MSU Spartans. The Chicago skyline was amazing and the sunset over the city was unbelievable. It was a perfect night for sailing and for MSU camaraderie!

7.22.09 Mid-Summer Mentoring Program at The Palm Restaurant (21)

Thank you to MSU Alumni Phil Jahnke, General Manager at The Palm Restaurant, for sponsoring appetizers, providing a cash bar and for hosting this reception on the outdoor patio. Based on the tremendous response from so many local alumni, the students were able to tap into more than one mentor this summer. A big thank you goes out to all those who participated!

7.19.09 MSU Incoming Freshman Picnic at Higgins Tavern (78)

One of our club's favorite traditions is to host the annual Freshman Picnic. Incoming MSU Freshman from the Chicagoland area gather together with their parents to meet one another and to meet recent graduates who are now living in Chicago. Students talked about dorm assignments, majors and the ins and outs of being new on campus. Several Alumni from the Chicago Mentoring Program were on hand this year to answer questions from the students.

6.11.09 Western Suburbs Spartan Outreach (38)

MSU Alumni Club of Metro Chicago held the first Western Suburbs Spartan Outreach at the Brick House Tavern & Tap in the Man-Cave Room. Tom Jenks led the group and established a solid foundation for future events and participation.

4.1.09 Strategic Networking Event (14)

Several MSU Alumni and friends gathered for the Don't Get Fooled by Fast Food Choices Seminar while enjoying a continental breakfast, courtesy of John Wagner and the Doubletree Hotel. MSU grad Cate McGinn, Managing Counsel, Global Nutrition for McDonald's Corporation presented hot nutrition topics such as: COOL (Country of Origin Labeling), Sodium, Trans Fat, Allergens, Calorie Labeling on Menus and Safety/Recalls. There was a very lively question and answer session which ended the seminar on a healthy high note!
