Broad Executive Forum of Chicago - A Special Thank You

On behalf of the MSU Alumni Club of Metro Chicago, thank you to the Broad College of Business, Dean Lenway, our guests from the University and keynote speaker Glen Tullmann of AllScripts for putting on such a wonderful program.

Local Alumni to Host Cancer Fundraiser

This Saturday, celebrate or commiserate your tax return for a good cause at Tax Relief 2012.
 
Hosted by MSU alumni Eric Bolf (MSU '05) and Vic Maurer (MSU '06), Tax Relief benefits Flashes of Hope, a 501(c)3 organization that changes the way children with cancer and other life threatening illnesses see themselves while raising money for pediatric cancer. Tickets start at just $35 ($45 at door) and include a 3-hour bar package at Board Room Chicago in River North (343 W. Erie Street).

B1G Night at Wrigley Field

 

Sparty at Wrigley? You heard it here first. 
 
$25 gets MSUAA members a night at the ballpark, a limited edition Cubs hat in Green and White, and face time with the Big Guy as Sparty will be in the house for the game. 
 
It gets better: If MSU outsells our Big Ten rivals, Sparty will get to throw out first pitch from Wrigley Field. This is for Sparty. This is for bragging rights. This is for Victory for MSU.

2012 Annual Meeting and Board Elections

It’s that time of year!

 

Our annual meeting and alumni board elections will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Higgins’ Tavern (3259 N. Racine, Chicago). Stop by for a free bunch and picnic on the patio at Higgins'.

 

Meet new Spartan friends (you can never have too many), and learn in greater detail about everything that you didn’t realize you were missing out on (but that you are!).  At the conclusion of the meeting, members of the MSU Alumni Association will VOTE to approve the incoming club directors, hear the State of the Club address and find out more about how to become involved in our local Spartan community.

 

This is just a teeny, tiny portion of all that you’ll learn at our annual picnic, and we don’t want you to miss out, so we’ll see you April 28th!  And remember, free brunch for all those who RSVP to attend! 

Sparty's Young Alumni Third Thursdays at English!

 

Come join your fellow young/young-ish alumni at Sparty's Third Thursdays at English! We're having a monthly happy hour for anyone looking to meet some new friends, expand their network, or just share a beer and reminisce about walking from Brody Complex to Cedar Village in a blizzard for nothing more than really cheap beer in a plastic cup.

This month, our friends from the Chicago chapters of the Penn State and Purdue alumni clubs are joining us! What better way to expand your network than to include people from other alumni clubs? Plus, they're pretty cool. 

So come join us at English Bar & Restaurant (444 N. LaSalle) for good times and tasty food and drink specials. 

Our remaining Third Thursdays will be held once a month on the following dates:

March 22, 2012 - April 19, 2012 - May 17, 2012

Spartans Give Back: Field Day Event with The Chicago Youth Sports Alliance

 

Who: The MSU Alumni Club of Metro Chicago, the Chicago Youth Sports Alliance, and other big ten alumni clubs in the area

What: Alumni representatives from all of the Big Ten schools will work in teams with 500 elementary school children from the Chicago area to compete in a massive field day event.  Each school will have its own team and event station while the children's parents attend a workshop on preparing their students for college. 

When: Saturday, May 19 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: Chicago Park District - exact location TBD

Why: To give back to the Chicago community, have fun, and meet new people!
